We have never met, Helen, but send our sympathy to you in your time of grief. Roy was a good friend while we were fellow Trojans in the NROTC unit at USC. I met him in August or Sept. of 1947 and we became buddies. We had a lot of after hours talks, where he shared his love for literature and life in general. We were split up after graduation - to different ships, and did not reconnect until the late 1990's , through email. He advised not to correspond by email, so that was the last contact we had. I loved to read his letters-to the-editor of the USC alumni magazine. It made me proud to have known Roy. My wife, Jeanne and I live in Tulsa, OK - Roy's home state.

We pray that Roy knew Christ before he passed on.
