Romney Speech Is Readied To Explain His Faith to Public

Submitted by Patricia Brown, Nov 12, 2007 13:04

Everyone has good reason to be skeptical of Romney if they know anything about Mormonism; it cannot be equated with Catholocism because there are no similarities at all. One is a cult, one a major religion. I would suggest that the American people explore the doctrine of this faith individually by purchasing a Book of Mormon, which is the book that Mormons use in place of the Bible. They feel that the Bible is "correct insofar as it is correctly translated."

This cult has only in recent years allowed that Black Americans can achieve the "highest tier of Heaven," believes that their "prophet and seer" has direct communication with God, and baptizes "gentiles" (those who are not Mormon) after they are dead. They celebrate bizarre, extremely secretive ceremonies in their temples that "seal" couples being married for "time and eternity", and believe that they are the only true faith on earth. There are many more strange beliefs- too many to mention here. Since Mormons so stringently listen to their "prophet and seer" it is not unreasonable to ask whom Romney would represent as an American President- the "gentiles" of the United States, the Mormon people, or both. I wouldn't place any bets on the gentiles.

One should read the history of Joseph Smith, the rogue founder of this cult who was hanged by an angry mob while jailed in Carthage, Illinois. I have heard from some that he was hanged for his religious beliefs, others have told me that he was hanged for being a horse their. Read his account of how he came to found this group. It is a most bizarre (and, frankly, unbelievable story). One should also pay attention to the history of this organization. It was largely founded as a money-making scheme and sex club for a bunch of men who wanted to fleece the flock and cheat on their wives with impunity. What easier way to accomplish this than to say that one of their Gods sanctioned it! (It is interesting that so many of the early converts were ignorant young women accosted when they left ships in sea ports after immigrating to America; in some aspects, the practice of seducing these young women in order to obtain sexual favors and religious converts reminds me of the slave trade.) The Mormon group was later chased out of the United States because of the immoral behavior associated with polygamy. When the Mormon leaders in Utah decided that statehood would be advantageous to them, the Gods determined that polygamy was no longer a desirable state of affairs, so the leadership, at least officially, rescinded that particular mandate.

I have lived with the Mormons and it sickens me to think that one of them could become our leader. Every voter should research this group. Several other Mormon tomes are used in their "worship" and these can also be reviewed by the American people. One of these is the Pearl of Great Price, by Joseph Smith, another the Doctrine and Covenants. Of interest to the general public might be why the title Latter Day Saints is used by this group. Other titles can be found online or in libraries.Research is best done by reviewing the work of independent organizations because works published by the Mormon church may not contain the same information as that published by independent writers. I am not an expert on Mormonism, but I am alarmed it it.
