On Day Four, Hunger Striker Ends a Protest

These students requested admission to Columbia University, and received the privilege of attending. Now they are demanding-- demanding! -- changes in its curriculum? This handful of self-important, self-righteous radicals? (and Prof. Dalton, who adds a "demand" that all students be required to study his favorite subjects, thereby guaranteeing him increased status.) What is sad is that the university administration will not do what should be done -- has neither the backbone nor the principles to do what should be done -- which is politely to tell the "demanding" students, "We are sorry that you are dissatisfied with the curriculum, but since you are dissatisfied, you should depart. You are therefore expelled. Since the term is almost over, there is no need to refund your fees for the past semester. Perhaps you will find some other university that meets your needs. In any case, you're out. Goodbye. Adios. Au revoir. Pack up and go." But Columbia didn't have nough nerve to do that with the riotous students in the 1960s, and won't have it now. The administration didn't even have enough courage to tell Ahmedinijad, "Don't come."
