Hello,

I am Jamaal, one of the sons you wrote about in this article. Since the shooting I've moved to North Carolina with relatives. My brother currently stays with a family friend in Brookyln. He opted not to relocate as he was accepted to John Jay College. (he's currently there studying forensic science).

The house is still there in Canarsie, we are in the process of selling it.

A friend of mine came across this article and suggested I comment on it. There's not much to say, most of what was written is accurate. I'm somewhat at peace now that 9 months passed. The new environment is great, aside from Raleigh's scarce water supply and the daunting task of walking miles to school, or not being able to come and go as I did in NY (mta wasnt always on schedule, but it sure as hell beats nothing!).
