I just found your article about Bob Wills. I grew up in a part of Texas where Bob was revered as almost a god. Every rodeo, every calf-roping I ever attended (there were alot of these in that part of Texas) had some cowboy with a pickup truck and an 8 track or cassette player with Bob Wills playing. The bigger rodeos played the music over the speakers. My father, brothers, uncles and cousins all played this type of music and would mimic Bob. My grandfather played the fiddle and won many fiddle contests himself. He played many of these songs, but he did not like Bob. He thought Bob was too much of a show off.
I have a collection of Bob's music that I enjoy almost daily. It is truly different than most of the country music today. I once read that Bob did not consider this to be country music, but a totally different type. Thanks for highlighting a great musician and intertainer who has virtually been forgotten.
