Libertarians React to the Raid

Wow, such ignorance and such inept journalism -- so we are supposed to understand that the opinion of one "Jeff Russell of Saratoga County" should be sufficient to determine whether it is legal for someone to use the (obviously copyrighted term "Dollar") ?

Just a cursory familiarity with the many currencies around the world (journeying to such far away and exotic places as... oh, I dunno, Canada?) would prove that MANY countries use the word "dollar" imprinted on their coins and bills of exchange.

And there's this wonderful *NEW* tool called a search engine, a popular one is named Google -- where searching the term "dollar" will bring up educational articles such as this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dollar , and this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thaler . Either or both of which would be proof enough that the term "dollar" is a generic one, that it in fact PREDATES the existence of the entire United States by a few hundred years.

And as for private currencies in form of coins and bills -- Oh my, what about DISNEY DOLLARS ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney_dollar ) -- does this mean the FBI is going to visit Anaheim and Orlando next?

Or, wait a minute, since "Disney Dollars" are made of aluminum and plastic and paper and such (like Federal Reserve notes and US Min coins) aren't they actually MORE of a threat to the baseless fiat money of the Federal Reserve?

I mean , how could someone possibly mistake real GOLD and SILVER of the "Liberty Dollar" coins for the standard worthless US coins. (Anyone who would think so has obviously never HELD a real gold or silver coin -- you cannot accidentally mistake them for US coins. And likewise with the Liberty "Certificates" -- which look more like gaudy stock certificates than the mundane Federal Reserve Notes.)
