Mayor's Agenda Intact Under Spitzer Education Contract

(Thus, before districts could receive their share of the money, they had to reach an agreement with the state on exactly how they would spend it. Mr. Spitzer's contract requires that funds be spent on one of five policy areas, including class-size reduction and teacher quality.)

Because unless Spitzer says no to the 25/55 pension bill, that is where an additional $500 million is going. May I point out that including pensions as part of a labor negotiation is prohibited by the Taylor Law? Suozzi said he would veto every pension enhancement. It's time to Spitzer to say to those who already have a better deal than just about everyone else that they should consider themselves lucky to have it, instead of demanding more.
