What you need to understand about Pawlenty is that he is up against near veto-proof dem majorities in both state houses. Minnesotans are going to see some exceptional bipartisanship, or a complete disaster. The Gov will not be the half of a presidential ticket that assures the Southern Republicans. He has always been a team player and didn't run from the President, but he cannot just cater to his base in Minnesota. Pawlenty has more than enough polish to pull this off though (imagine John Edwards but a little more aw shucks). This is definitely possible, but Pawlenty is going to have to accomplish something of real importance in the next year to be even a remote contender. My bet: the children of Minnesota get state sponsored health care.
