It should be noted that the Thanksgiving rituals, at least here in Michigan, include watching the Detroit Lions play a game of football. Attaching a significance to Thanksgiving is an individual thing. A New Yorker might identify the holiday with a parade that is not much noticed in the midwest. It does say something good about the national character that the USA was motivated to set up a holiday with thankfulness as its theme. Thank you for reminding us of that.
