Mr. McWhorter, I am sorry to say that you have totally lost sight of the meaning of Thanksgiving. This Holiday is not about starch, it is about fat and protein. Large helpings of turkey and gravy are the true signs of gratitude to Divine Providence; stuffing and yams are only part of the fixins.
How can pundits like you continue when you have obviously lost your sensitivity to the foundations of American life. Weight gain is important to us on our national holidays. You must check your facts with care.
