I don't understand why the Jewish People can't have their own national state while ALL other Arab peoples have more that they are numbered? Why Egypt can be a Muslim by religion and Egyptian by nationality and Israel shouldn't allow being a Jewish state by nationality and a Jewish state by religion? Why Mr. Judt or Mr. Lerner or who ever, accepts the very notion that the Palestinian state can and should be a Muslim and an Arab state that preserves apartheid policy towards Jews by any definition?

Judaism is not just a religious belief and practice but a nationality too. Judaism is not a race as some of those Anti Zionist Jews tell us.

The Jewish state started to be built in the 19^th century. Israel is not the out come of the holocaust (as many Anti Semitic / Anti Zionist demagogues claim), but rather created in spite of the holocaust! If not the holocaust Israel might have been created earlier with more Jews as inhabitants and the mass numbered Jews were withhold the Arabs to claim all of the land for themselves. The holocaust made a continuous problem for the Jews and the Arabs in Palestine by not let the Palestinian Jews fixing their right with out any doubt on the Palestinian land. The Palestinian Arabs had already their state in Eastern Palestine, now called Jordan.

People like Mr. Judt are mistaken. As an American and a Jew he can be just an American. No one force him to be nationally a Jew. He might keep his Jewish belief, if he practices Judaism at all, or stop from being a Jewish if he may prefer. But any way he can describe himself totally 100% American and act against Italy, Namibia, Argentina or Israel. It is not the Jewish problem he describes, but it is his and the way some of the Anti Zionist "Jews" are looking at the "Zionist problem". I as most of the Jews see Zionism as the solution for the "Jewish problem", the problem that Jews weren't accepted by the local nation in the Diaspora as equal and some times even they were treated as sub-humans, or what ever ones calls it. I want to remind Mr. Judt that Jews like him have had much more problems to live as equal citizens in the pre 1948 US and Europe. Jews were persecuted, oppressed and murdered just because they were Jews without any national state to stand firm against that gentile behave and help them. The changes in the status of the Jews through out the world had been changed drastically after the creation of Israel. Now those Jews who want to stay Jews know that somewhere in the globe they have some warm and loving place for darker times if come. You may use it or not, it is the Jew's personal decision. Only the very existence of that Jewish state keeps the other Jews out side Israel a safer and more stable shelter in Israel (See the USSR, Ethiopian, Argentinean, France Jewish exodus). So Mr. Judt should say that the Diaspora is the truly anachronism and not Israel.

The difference between Anti Semites and Anti Zionists Jews is that the formers look at the Jews as negative creatures from their very existence and the cause of all wrongs in the world and they should be punished and extinction (Anti Zionist Jews are included in the package)…. and the later think that Zionists betrayed the world and the Jews and though should be cured and transmitted into being merely Jews or just humans…. While both floods of negative opinions are poured out of hatred, hallucination, ignorance and dubious stance, from different, but yet close, points of view.

The stand of the Anti Zionist Jews, show us all that Jews are not different from others. Jews can be crazy too and believe that they are doing the good thing.
