Why Not Detention?

Submitted by America Ruiz, Nov 24, 2007 19:25

I am teaching for almost a year in a transfer school (students here had been kick out from other schools and nobody else want them). They are 17/18 years old with few credits and they have to take a full load to graduate in the next year or so, the principal is a hands on administrator who knows each and every one of our students

The students know from day one, that they will have all our support for them to graduate but we won't tolerate disrespect. We do not have a detention center if they do not behave they are out of the door and let me tell you it works.
