Hate Modernity? Buy Local

If it were April 1, I would assume that Mr. Boudreaux was making a joke. But why would The Sun print what he says as if it were a viable argument? Surely, no one can make a rational correlation between the 12th century lack of scientific knowledge of preventative medicine that led to death in childbirth or during time of plague, and the fact that people ate local food ? One could, however, speculate that the local food, fresher, closer to the source, and thus higher in nutritive value, at least may have helped them live a healthier and longer life than they otherwise would have.
