Archbishop of Canterbury Harshly Criticizes America

Archbishop Williams poorly serves his flock when he makes such ill informed comments has recanted in this article. I pray for the Anglican Church that it is just lack of adequate infromation that filled the Archbisops comments. To assume otherwise is to draw into question the Archbishop's leadership.

I do not know the hsitory or heart of Archbishop Williams. I do know that history has an uncanny way of repeating itself. Neville Ghamberlain was a man of good heart and we have know how that turned out. The Archbishop's attitude, intentional or otherwise, to me, leans to the "good men do nothing" apporach.

To give equal weight to both factions, America and Islamofacist, in Iraq is disturbing. I want to scripe a line between the bin Laden Muslim and those who attend the two Mosque within five miles of my home. These people, Muslims, like me, Christian, believe that the world would be a better place if it followed the teachings of my prophet and leader, usbut like me, this conversion will be lead by a meddling of the spirit and the mind not at the muzzle of gun.

Bin Laden and his followers want to control the nature of man by punishing the offended. Why must women where Berkas(?)? Why are rape victims jailed, punished, and sometimes killed? Why are non- believers treated as second class citizens, or banished from society, or worse? We came to understand our short comings and are working to improve our nature. Bin Laden uses them as an excuse to perpetuate.

The Archbsihop is a prisoner of his own political and emotional shortcomings. We have made mistakes in Iraq. With terrible consequences for Iraqis and us. But the whole world is there to see them and call us to task on them. Are we slow to change, yes! But change for changes sake is not a solution. "Requime change in Iraq" is a policy of the Clinton adminisitration based on the same information used by the Bush administration to implement it. Bad implementation does not negate good policy. It calls for interspection and redirection.

Should we reverse the results of Anzio, El Alamein, or Normandy because many innocents died? Should we reverse the crossing of the Rhine at Remaquein(?) because to many died?

Archbsihop Williams in his effort to draw commonality between to factions removed his church from its foundation on a rock to one on quicksand.
