Since the terribly smeared Swift Boat people have another chance to show their truthfulness with the T. Boone Pickens challenge, I wish to call your attention to a new "revelation" Kerry got away with on "Meet the Press." I guess Tim Russert did not have the heart or the stamina to pursue this "revelation" as keeping up with Kerry's many "embellishments" and modifications of history takes a lot of work.
Pertinent material from the "Meet the Press" transcript:
Jan. 30, 2005- Kerry quote from "Meet the Press" Interview Pg. 6- "We went out of Ha Tien, which is right in Vietnam. We went north up into the border."
Kerry must think we are all too ignorant or lazy to figure out how his boat took him to Ha Tien, from which he claimed to enter Cambodia to deliver supplies. As you can see by any decent map of South Vietnam, he had to use a special long range Swift Boat as Ha Tien is on the Gulf coast and nowhere near the Mekong or any other River. Too bad no one questioned the crew about this new revelation to see if they all had noticed such a journey. They could not claim navigation ignorance without admitting that they did not know the difference between a river and the open sea of the Gulf of Siam in the hundreds of mile journey around Cape Camou to Ha Tien. Why they backed Kerry up on his wild tenuous Cambodia claim against a fellow shipmate is another sad chapter of factual abuse. That Kerry still tried to make true his highly modified claim of a Cambodian mission at this "Meet the Press" interview is both infuriating and scary since there is no end to his need to play hero leader.
We need to bring back some mild form of sedition law. Perhaps a simple $500 fine for untruths aimed at the US and its institutions would not infringe on the sometimes over-cherished free speech but make such speech less destructive especially at the hands of someone like Kerry. Unfortunately he is not the only politician (mainly Democrat) with this syndrome.
