Ms. Garland says the immigration issue has recently become an issue in the Presidential campaign. She used the wrong term. It's not immigration which is the issue. It's illegal aliens which are the issue. I am totally fed up with people who "soften" the issue with terms like undocumented workers and the like. They reduce the English language to meaningless blather. Given the facts about our looming fiscal crisis in Social Security because of the shrinkage in the worker base paying into the system, most Americans recognize we must increase immigration into this country. But, they also recognize that those immigrants (like the ones in decades past) should use legal means to enter the U.S. I am for a meteoric rise in the number of entry visas to be granted to people in other countries. But, I am dead set against any program which says it was alright for you to break the law to get into the country, while others stand in line for that entry visa.
