Bush on the Battlefield

Is this further exercise in diplomatic futility Secretary Of State Rice's audition for an up-market charitable foundation leadership position? It has little relevance to the future of Israel, if any future benefits to that beleaguered state are counted. Any concession by the Arab Side is an instant nullity, for any Arab politician complicit in such a concession instantly divests himself of political legitimacy. The Prophet's Message of a Unitary Deity, involved in the daily lives of the Faithful, has devolved into the application of Political Power by tyrants and bigots. Submission to Allah's Timeless Will has given place to superstition and the veneration of psychopaths. Perhaps it is Heaven's Will that the Jews of Israel are the force that will cause the eventual restoration of Islam to its former status of awe and respect. I, for one, would prefer that the reformation begin as a purely Moslem activity in Africa, but no man can predict it. Until the Arabs can produce Statesmen who can honestly negotiate, this conference, like its predecessors, is a comic totentanz.
