You're absolutely correct about Raines. And also the chances of him being elected to the HOF. This happens all the time and it reflects on the BB writers a. Laziness b. Dumbness (More likely) or both.

A player that comes to mind is Craig Nettles. Maybe he doesn't belong in the HOF but he certainly deserved more consideration than he got. His career offensive numbers are an almost duplicate of the great Brooks Robinson and he was perhaps the closest to Brooks defensively during that era. Yet I don't think he ever got more than 10% of the vote.

There are many more and always will be and I guess that's good for you since it provides you with subject matter for your column.

I very much enjoy your writing, keep up the good work. Your tone and irreverance are refreshing.
