Somewhere it is written: "Thou shalt not steal." One of the grave faults of Democracy is the perpetual activity of the Citizen-Electors devoted to the displacement and deferral of costs of Government Operations and Programs. The Social Security Scheme, financially unsound as it has become, is the glaring example of the deferral of costs. It is convenient to rob our grandchildren to pay present pensions. The Income Tax Code, a text beyond the power of Man to master, is effectively a compilation of schemes to make the disliked or envied "Other Fellow" pay for the multitude of Government Operations and Programs that the Electorate has demanded from their elected Public Servants. Reduced to its essence, the Code, which includes paragraph upon paragraph of cost displacements, is a Manual Of Theft, but, fortunately, no odium attaches to the striving of "Special Interests" who seek, each one, to shift the fiscal burden to that convenient "Other Fellow." The United States Treasury is a pristine Money Laundry which washes away all taint of sin. It is Democracy in action, and "Reform" will probably make it worse.
