I'm not sure if this article is Satloff's pipe dream or an attempt to set the spin in motion for the future lack of success for the process. There are no facts here, no firm basis that would lead an objective observer to believe that a different outcome can result from this effort than has come from any of the previous peace pushes. Perhaps the most telling remark in the article is his invocation of the Balfour Declaration. Unfortunately, what we need to remember about that piece of history is that it was a promise made by a country that possessed neither the will nor the the ability to deliver. I'm afraid that history is repeating itself with Bush and Rice leading the wasted effort.
