Eliot does what all good socialists do- They consider themselves the elite and thus employ whatever means necessary to acquire power in order to enact their 'mandate'. They consider underlings and friendly press and pols to be the 'necessary idiots' and foot soldiers to do the underhanded things, to lie and then take the arrows when necessary. Friendly folks lie David Soares and Andrew Cuomo are going to find little to hurt a fellow traveler.
