Right-Hand Woman

The Right Hand Woman is a remarkable viewpoint to defend the Sec. of State from more slings and arrows by the media elite trying to undermine her clout and her prestige in Washington DC and the world.

Condi Rice was fierce during Sept 11, not some whimpering little girl as portrayed by this new book. This is the same woman who rose up from the buring ashes of Birmingham, Alabama to get an education and make a success of her life. Can anyone dare to call her life in the White House a failure? Oh, please.

During 2007, Sec. Rice made 8 trips to discuss foreign policy with PM Olmert of Israel and President Abbas of the Palestinian territory. Toss in Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations with a dash of phone calls to other Middle East leaders and you get the result of a very successful Middle East Summit in Annapolis on November 27. Too bad Elisabeth failed to be able to include this successful event in her book, since it would have changed the tone of the book.

When Condi Rice took over the post-war Iraq plan, she was able to get Robert Blackwill (former India Ambassador) to assist with diplomacy. She defended the experience of other former State Department who have given up their ambassadorships in order to come to Iraq, like Ryan Crocker and others.

Hamas killed elected Fatah members who lived and worked in Gaza back in June. There is zero tolerance of killing elected officals for political power in the United States. Think about this---did the assassins of James Garfield, Abraham Lincoln, William McKinley or John F Kennedy result in their takeover of the White House? No. It led to their capture, a trial, and even a few executions. That is why law and order must be put into place in this Arab territory which will stop the violent acts of Hamas trying to seek death as a way to take over their government and put their leaders in charge of the land.

Sec. Condi Rice has 14 months to bring the two sides together in agreement and help form the two-state solution. Has anyone told readers that Yassar Arafat was not trusted to help create a nation for his people? Condi Rice is correct, the leadership had to change and the facts on the ground had to be better prepared before the real work could get started.

Thank you, New York Sun, for helping to defend this great woman who has the strength of Margaret Thatcher and Condi Rice will not wobble in the face of danger and hard work.
