Marlins Ship Away Stars for Assorted Bin of Potential

Not really sure if the Yanks missed the boat - they do not have a position player with the near-potential of Maybrin (who did look overmatched against the Yanks but appears to be a heck of an athlete -and I think he came directly up from AA), and Miller is this-years Phil Hughes according to scouting reports, so it may have taken a more-substantial package to Florida to get Cabrera than to the Twins for Santana. By getting some bullpen help in the trade, Florida might be setting up for some more trades out of their almost-effective pen, but its clear that 40% of the NL East will be a joke this year. Cabrera or Santana? I would have taken Cabrera because of his age the lefty-dominant line-up of the Yanks, but again that might change after this year when a bunch of lefties ( Giambi, Abreu and maybe Damon) go off the books and need to be replaced anyway. Santana will be a horse, but at 40mm cost to the Yanks ( between Lux tax and salary )along with prospects, I can see why they ultimately shied away. Time will tell.
