It's no wonder our kids are failing. We have two major Republican candidates - Romney and Huckabee - whose background include pastoral duties. Huckabee questions the theory of evolution. None of the Republican candidates, or even the democratic candidates have said science gives us the truth over religion - even though 10,000 years of human progress argues this. Our culture, media and pundents are openly scornful of learning, science and math. There are more likely to be arguments over whether Creationism should be taught in school than why Johnny/Jamie can't add. America is raising a generation that will put us squarely into second place. While we elect ignorant, unschooled politicians, China is run by engineers. Which country has had the best growth over the last 20 years? Already, through a combination of our unimformed paranoia about immigrants, we are losing the bet and brightest minds to other countries, especially those in Europe. In a short time, Asia will have universities of its own equal to ours. We can no longer afford to let ignorance be our guide.
