God on Docket — Yet Again — in Coast Court

Submitted by Victor Galindo, Dec 5, 2007 13:43

As I understand the matter, the composer of the pledge believed that insertion of 'under God' simply did not fit what he had in mind poetically. And it doesn't. And I said that pledge for many years in my youth without 'under God' before Eisenhower & company saw fit to insert it. One of our worst presidents - and a lousy general. He was no Patton or MacArthur. It seemed awkward when the pledge was changed so I never used it.
