"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands....". Why do we pledge allegiance to a FLAG.? If we are going to pledge allegiance, it should be 'to the USA which is represented by the flag.' Wake up people. Attend your basic English (or American) composition class.
