How about a 'homestead exemption' of $100,000 or so? It would encourage home ownership, it would keep elders in their homes, it would encourage elders to retire here (and spend retirement money here), it would encourage more building ie upgrades, garages out buildings. As part of that though ,He'd have to make the vast left- wing public employees pay NEW YORK STATE taxes on their retirement. (they now pay no NY taxes on their retirement while the rest of us do ,and we also ,pay taxes on our Social Security). These folks now take all the money and enrich Florida and other retirement havens. We are not going to get a handle on the financial woes of NY until and unless we get a handle on the unions.
