Trinity School Plans for Apartment Building Are Resisted

Submitted by D., Dec 10, 2007 21:06

"Faculty Housing" is anything but - fully half of the flats allotted to faculty (as compensation for the miserable salaries and lack of protections for teachers and staff alike) - go to administrative workers from their brownstone: the MS principal, secretaries, mailroom clerks, admissions officers. The promise that raised condo sales would find their way to teacher salaries is more of the same lying PR spin. Oh, and the occupant of yet another of the school-owned brownstones?, Headmaster Moses, lies in the hospital since November awaiting a new HEART, hence the lack of school spokesmen. Trinity has suffered a massive brain drain in the last 24 months - marvelous teachers and chairmen fleeing the mistreatment of an administration and Board who are solely self-serving. The Episcopal tradition, the school motto, the 200+ years of history have been driven into the ground in just the past greedy few "boom" years in NYC. Celebrities and Masters of the Universe, boldfaced names notwithstanding, have all stood by and encouraged the crassest and cruelest of "growth" imaginable. And now the media have come sniffing around. Just wait to see what they can discover! I wish them well.
