Few critics in the past 20-odd years have understood--or bothered to try to understand--the great John Ford, who was, during his lifetime, routinely lauded as the preeminent American director of films. Thanks, Mr. Giddins, for succinctly restoring aspects of Ford's genius to printed (cyber) page in your compelling review of this landmark DVD release.
