Animal Rights May Get Seat in City Classrooms
in response to reader comment: rights versus welfare - keep terrorists from indoctrinating our childre!

Submitted by catherine, Dec 13, 2007 20:45

What could possibly be wrong with love and compassion for all things? Unfortunately some, like "J" are terribly threatened with this beautiful concept. I won't go into the reasons why here, but it might have something to do with having to confront personal lifestyle choices, such as what we eat, and the resistance to changing them, choices which make us participants in the suffering of animals. "Animal Rights" may be a flawed term, or it may not be, but in any case, to call proponents of it extremists or terrorists is simply fearmongering by the fearful. And what exactly are you fearful of? Love and compassion for all things? Ooooooo, what a frightening idea. ALL of the quotes you so helpfully provide, when taken in context, ALL point to love and compassion for all things, the most evolved of concepts.
