Sadly, it is not. Bush, with Rice in the State Department chair and aided by daddy Bush's friends Baker, etc., has brought the State Department to a new low. It was always a despicable department with a strong smell of anti-Semitism. As far back as WWII, this department acted with malice toward Jews. That is why NO attempt was made during WWII to help Jews trapped in Nazi Europe in any meaningful way. Only George Schultz in the Reagan administration was a decent person in position of Secretary - and he proved helpless in that position. The department needs to be abolished - all members fired - and a fresh start begun.
