Steroids List May Be Long, but Report Is Hollow

Submitted by Kyle, Dec 15, 2007 14:20

I agree whole heartedly that the Mitchell Report is hollow and in general worthless document, however, please don't go holding Pettitte as a some paragon of virtue to try to demonstrate it. The Mitchell Report stinks, but so does every one of the cheaters who used PEDs.

I don't care one whit about Pettitte's supposedly noble intentions for cheating. He cheated. When Kenny Rogers used pine tar to cheat in the World Series, he did so because he wanted to help his team. Pettitte is a hypocrit, don't try to mask that with some falsehood about intentions.

Also, before you dismiss player eduction, the science of PEDs are *not* well known. Players, media and fans are *all* far from well versed on the subject. There are scientific studies out now (sabernomics.com has a good summary of some studies) that are showing no discernable link with enhanced performance and HGH (unlike anabolic steroids), yet players take them because they believe it will help them. So please don't dismiss the education aspect, when clearly some education on the topic *would* enlighten.
