Ethan might be more convincing if he could spell emissions.

Carbon dioxide emissions are not poison, but fertilizer for the plant life we require for sustenance and increasingly actual empirical scientific evidence is being generated that proves carbon dioxide is not the driver for cyclic temperature change and never has been. Faulty computer models which are the main basis of the chicken little alarmism have been vastly over-credited since they leave out variables that promote homeostasis in the real world. However, for the time being, the SS Global Warming with the UN and Gore at the helm is still chugging full speed ahead on the wrong course, until accredited scientists who have not allowed their politics and government funding trump their objectivity can turn it around so let's take Ethan's argument at face value.

Pot calling Steyn kettle black misleads in a different way. We're supposed to conclude that it's terribly unfair for 4% of the world's population (Americans) to be responsible for 25% of its carbon emissions. There is no mention of sprawling geographic size demanding more transportation, cold climate requiring heating, lack of Soviet era rusted out industry whose collapse alone meets Kyoto requirements, technologic innovations under development to decrease emissions nor the fact that the American economy is still making much of the world economy go round and therefore benefiting much more than the 4%.
