When Israel dismantled 22 peaceful communities in Gaza in 2005 , described as 'painful concessions in the interest of peace', they left behind greenhouses that provided a lucrative export enterprise of produce and flowers. Well-meaning Americans collected $14,000,000 to purchase these on behalf of those who were to take over the land. The world then saw the gleeful torching and looting of that which was to have given an economic start to the PA. Instead of peace the Arabs moved into the newly abandoned area and began to use it for increased terrorist attacks on Israeli cities.

Now, on a much larger scale, donors have gathered in Paris to pledge 7.4 billion dollars to the PA, the same group that previously turned economic opportunity into rubble and rockets. Considering the experience of the past - large sums squandered on weapons and the goal of destroying Israel - one must wonder at the naivete of those who expect a miraculous turnaround of attitude and action on the part of the Arabs.

A world that permits the demonization of and threats to a democracy like Israel will learn soon enough that its own existence is in grave jeopardy. If this lesson has not yet been learned Western civilization can look forward to failing grades in 'continued existence'.
