ScareTax, Not FairTax
in response to reader comment: This is what happens...

You either misread or misrepresent my words. I never said prices go up 30%, I said taxes charged will be 30%, which is what even the Fair Tax website admits to, when computed as we look at taxes now.

Your "11 trillion dollars" figure is a pipe dream. It is assumed somehow that all of a sudden, people who hate paying taxes will no longer desire to avoid paying them.

No paperwork? How do people obtain their prebates? No massive bureaucracy? What is the Administrative Authority mentioned in the bill?

Since bartering is mentioned in the bill to be taxed, as are medicines and food and such, how do they intend to enforce collection of taxes on bartering? From section 505, Penalties, "RECKLESS OR WILLFUL FAILURE TO COLLECT TAX.—

(1) CIVIL PENALTY; FRAUD.—Each person who is required to and recklessly or willfully fails to collect taxes imposed by this subtitle shall be liable for a penalty equal to the greater of $500 or 20 percent of tax not collected.

"(2) CRIMINAL PENALTY.—Each person who is required to and willfully fails as part of a trade or business to collect taxes imposed by this subtitle may be fined an amount up to the amount determined in accordance with paragraph (1) or imprisoned for a period of not more than 1 year or both.

I too could go on and on, but encourage people to read the actual bill, not what a radio host says about it.
