Princeton Student Admits to Staging Attack, Police Say

Submitted by dognose, Dec 18, 2007 22:35

As this incident seems to be a reprise of a hoax Nava perpetrated in high school, I would say that the only issue here is the emotional and mental health of this one sad person, rather than the integrity of conservative thought or politics. If the Sun would like to point out that conservative thought in academe is hard to come by, and widely looked down upon when expressed, the case can be strongly made quite apart from dramatic incidents, genuine or staged. The culture at elite institutions sounds like this: students not having sex by age 20 are losers; corporations are inherently evil; there is nothing tragic or morally dangerous about ending the life of a fetus; white Americans are either racists or at least the happy beneficiaries of the legacy of racism; people of color are owed preferential treatment as compensation for racism; multiculturalism means condeming white people, the West, and especially the US; every exercise of American military power since World War II has been immoral; the root cause of Arab viciousness towards Israel is mighty Israel's abuse of powerless Arabs; and of course, George Bush is a liar and a dim wit. That, ladies and gentlemen, is some of the standard cant among most students and many faculty on Ivy League campuses today.
