Freedom Of Religion, Not From It
in response to reader comment: The Criminalization of Christianity

Submitted by Patriot, Dec 19, 2007 01:15

There is a creep of intolerance afoot in this nation. While screaming there is a 'war on Christmas', Christians are scurrying to place Creches and religious symbols in public places. It is they who are waging war on neutrality of government. As soon as government chooses to start endorsing religion, we shall all suffer with a limitation of our own freedom of conscience. Christians do not have greater rights to mix their religion with government because they are in the majority. Indeed the First Amnendment is about individual freedom. Not group freedom. Governments have no rights to express religion. In fact they are prohibited from such activity. I am concerned about the intolerance expressed on this website. We need a nation that fosters freedom instead of restricting it. We need a nation that supports EVERY American's right to religious freedom and respect, instead of an attempt at siding the government with one religion or even with the belief in God against those that choose not to believe. The rational man would be an atheist. We tolerate religious views but do not choose to examine what is right or wrong.
