Ms. Furchtgott-Roth is concerned that union spending and leadership salaries are hidden from the membership, if not for the DOL OLMS. However, unions are required to present financial reports to their members on a monthly basis, which they do at the monthly membership meeting. These reports are usually much more detailed and useful than what is revealed in the DOL LM forms. (I tried researching some spending issues for a few local unions I was interested in using the OLMS system and found the information to be useless.) Union salaries are set at nominations (during membership meetings) and then voted on by the membership. And then the salaries are reported monthly at membership meetings. Union PAC dollars are separate from union general funds... they are voluntary contributions from the members. If union members go to their union meetings, they can find out all this information and more.
