Missing Playoffs Would Allow Giants To Rebuild

Submitted by Serge Marinkovic MD, Dec 19, 2007 18:04

Aging and injury prone offensive talent has been a major component of the NY Giants late season atrophy in the pack but one has to agree the Coach Coughlin isn't going to be healthy bridge to the future. And Coach Coughlin senses his season coming to an early close. Manning clearly doesn't have the talent of his brother and is talent may not even be comparable to what they need as a backup quarterback. So taking the team in a new direction for future deep playoff run's will necessitate cutting Manning and perhaps trading for the Jets -Chad Paddington. Cutting Toomer and seeking new and better coaching for the development of Moss and Smith is not unreasonable at this stage. We must continue to feature Burress because he is one of the game's top 5 wide outs. Our current RB-Jacobs may yet earn 1000 yards this year while missing staggering 6 games. Shockey has become a better all around tight end and arguably better tight end now than when he was a perennial Pro Bowler. A broken leg should not be as much as a physical hindrance to reclaiming his premier league status versus an ACL injury so we look forward in good stead with his competitiveness spirit and play with the Giants. Our offensive line is set for the next 5 years with young, durable, cohesive and technically sound talent. In short summary, our defensive needs another shut down corner to complement Ross and another safety to replace Wilson. But the defensive line is our strength and full of elite talent. Reece general manager who is an excellent evaluator of talent and will lead the Giants with numerous good drafts and a trade or two. With a little New York luck we have already begun the course to a bright football future.
