If this were a homosexual man that had faked an assault and hate mail, would anyone say "Boo"? Unlikely. Homosexuals are a politically protected class, even when the evidence against their "attackers" is mostly false. (Matthew Sheppard = drug deal gone bad, not gay-bashing "hate crime".) I'm not advocating this man's actions. Nor the actions of anyone that deliberately causes harm to another human being for selfish benefit. What he did was wrong in action and wring in intent. But if we demonize him for falsifying a police report, I want to see the same outrage against the stripper who lied about being gang-raped by the Duke lacrosse players, and the same outrage over the Jena 6 perp.

Wrong is equally wrong, regardless of what socio-economic-religious camp one belongs in. Unless the one that did wrong belongs to a Christian organization. Then the act is "more equally wrong" (to paraphrase George Orwell), and the entire organization and the principals the organization is founded upon is at fault.

At times, it is necessary to separate the actions of the individual from the teachings of the organization. What this man did was not Christ-like. Don't blame Christ for what this man did.
