The grading system put out by the Dept. of Miseducation only makes sense if you have no idea what is going on in many schools. How can a school where 90% of the children are meeting standards, whatever that means, be rated worse than a school where 30% of the students are meeting standards. Only in the Dept. of miseducation.By the way, nobody really knows what the scores on these tests mean. As a longtime educatior,I encounter many students with high test results and very poor reading, writing and math skills. The schools are nothing more than test prep central, since all judgements of schools, teachers, administrators and students are based on two standarized test results. I have had students tell me that if I get a 2 on THE TESTS I get promoted. It makes no difference if I do my homework or behave in class. Sadly, in some cases they are right.Discipline is far worse in many schools than anyone lets on.Many principals are running scared and are afraid to offend anyone and receive complaints on their record. Many of our principals have limited teaching experience, but are graduates of the so-called principal's academy. The big losers in all this are the motivated, hard working ,well mannered students who come to school to learn. If this keeps up, we will be seeing less and less of them in the future.
