N.Y. Appeals Court Opens Door to 'Libel Tourism'

Submitted by Jim O'Sullivan, Dec 21, 2007 10:30

I've just read the decisiohn, and I contratulate Bruce for his ability to summarize it so succinctly. It's no big deal, for the just the reason he explains. The libel tourism thing, though, Is a real pain in the neck, and it's disappointing that our friend Britain has allowed itself to be a venue for this type of intimidation of Americans. No British author would be subject to New York jurisdiction just because 23 people in Manhattan ordered her book over the internet, and even if she were, she'd enjoy first Amendment protection in New York courts.
