U.S. Students Lag Behind Other Nations in Science, Math
in response to reader comment: Religion Over Science = Poor Math Scores?

It's true our educational system needs to be reformed from top to bottom - it was set up in roughly its current form a hundred years ago to provide docile, moderately educated factory workers, after all, and that's hardly what we need today. On the other hand, we ARE trailing the industrialized world in almost every subject - often we're down in the teens or lower. There's been almost no discussion of this calamity in the debates, but tons of discussion about God and belief systems, none of which will make Johnny or Janey add or read better, let alone help them understand biology and physics for the world of today and the future. It's really disgusting what the priorities are.
