86% of Schools Participating In Performance-Pay Project

Congratulations to the 33 schools that turned down this rediculous idea. If a teacher needs to be bribed to do a better job, maybe they should look for another profession. The school year in the schools that accepted this incentive will be based on test prep after test prep to get the students as much practice as possible for Two Tests. Nothing else will be as important and thus the children in these schools will be cheated out of creativity, thinking and research skills.Music, art, creative writing and even discipline might be a thing of the past.

Now suppose the schools meet the criteria based on higher test scores. What might happen then? The in-fighting over who gets what amount of money might make an interesting reality series for television. After all we need new programs while the writers continue to be on strike. No one will be happy and the moral of some schools may never be the same.I would not want to be one of the teachers on the committee to make this decision.Even if distributed equally, do you think the math and reading teachers will be happy to get as much as the gym and music teachers. Good Luck
