Your article was so moving for me as it brought back great memories of my childhood. I remember watching Amahl & the Night Vistiors when I was a child and absolutely loving it. When you mentioned "Mother, Mother" I added "Mother come with me, I want to be sure that you see what I see" and when you mentioned "This is My Box" I added, "This is my box, I never travel without my box. In this box....":
It didn't hurt that I was an opera lover from my earliest days and still am to this day. But the emotion that this one-act opera engendered in me (even having grown up asan Orthodox Jew) was something that I have never forgotten. I am very disappointed that there are no more perfomrances of this miniature masterpiece (although i couldn't go on a Saturday day performance) and only hope that it reprises next year (but ,of course, not on a Saturday). And I hope that they let older people into the theater.
