Misleading rear-guard mythmaking in the "Fear-at-all-Cost" antinuclear propaganda club has tried to say nuclear is not carbon-free. To the extent almost every activity, except dying, creates some carbon-debt, this might seem marginally true....Were our society based on hydrogen fuel, electrolytically released by nuclear reactors, then indeed the entire society could attain exactly zero (o) carbon emissions. The huge 51-team externalities study for the European Parliament, known as Extern-e, found that nuclear's carbon footprint was on a par with wind power's, and far better than solar. Even the vaunted hydroelectric technology is now known to generate carbon via methane production in the impounded waters behind the dams. Aside from massive geothermal use, the only chance of attaining zero carbon, is with nuclear. Anyone trying to gainsay this is either badly unread, or simply lying.
