Doctors Fear Malpractice 'Disaster'

Submitted by David Gitler MD, PhD, Dec 26, 2007 22:59

Your article concerning possible malpractice insurance surcharges contains one glaring error. Most physician's fees are currently paid by insurance - govenmental or commercial, usually referred to as " third party payors." As such, we do not set our fees, nor can we pass along any such cost to either the individual patient or to an insuring entity. Check, for example, the medicare fee schedule and the agreement signed by participating physicians.
