University Systems Aim To Cut Achievement Gaps

Wow, it's "hard" to believe this statement in the article: "The national gaps between minority students and white students enrolling and graduating from college are wider than they were 30 years ago" --

What? After 30 years of left-liberal social engineering programs, "diversity" programs, racial preference programs, etc., things are WORSE than they were in the bad old days BEFORE all those programs were established? Since they've failed so spectacularly in the past why should we believe the do-gooders when they claim that THIS YEAR'S flavor of social engineering programs will work THIS TIME, honest to goodness, they really, really, really will.

Why don't we just try emphasizing hard work, personal responsibility, individual effort and judging people by the content of their character instead of by the color of their skin? The statistics seem to support that it worked better than all the social engineers' stupid ideas of the past 30 years put together.
