Will someone please explain New York city? The highest taxes on individuals and business in the country, no services to speak of, and yet people are dying to get in here. competition for housing is such that non millionaires are routinely forced to move. There are more jobs available than people to fill them. The cost of a parking spot in New York is as high as a thousand dollars per month. While I certainly believe that taxes have a negative impact on the local economy, our outrages taxes are certainly not detering anyone in New York City. I believe that the tax rates, high or low are too simplistic an explantion for local economic growth or decline.
