Census Shows Many Leaving New York

Submitted by barbara a dodds, Dec 31, 2007 10:24

Everybody that I know who has left New York has done so because of high property taxes and other costs of living. They sell their homes and take that cash and buy something a whole lot bigger and better for less leaving something to live on in retirement. The property taxes never exceed $4000 a year! Besides losing educated, experienced people accustomed to volunteering and serving their communities we are losing their expendable income! They are taking their retirement checks--often from New York State--and spending them in their new states. Double whammy.
